Maker’s Mark Private Selection “The Whiskey of Waverly Hills” Bourbon (Private Selection)

The whiskey inside every bottle of Maker’s Mark Private Select is created using a custom recipe of oak staves unique to each barrel. Each stave imparts a distinct flavor profile, which in combination, produces a whiskey that is truly one of a kind, every time. This particular barrel was finished in the following oak staves:

  • 4 Part Baked American Pure Staves
  • 2 Part Roasted French Mendiant Oak Staves
  • 1 Part Toasted French Spice Oak Staves
  • 3 Part Seared French Cuvèe Staves

This unique blend creates a flavor profile that blasts light buttery flavors and transitions to flavors of mocha and chocolate that become more vibrant with every sip paired with a good rye kick. The nose is of lemon blossom and rich brown sugar, along with slight cherry and graham cracker. With the perfect touch of American oak, and an excellent barrel of bourbon this whiskey becomes an exceptionally delicious whiskey that finishes with a light leather and tobacco combination.

Proof: 109.2

WHAT IS “PRIVATE SELECTION”?

All products with “Private Selection” in the title are bottles exclusive to Top Shelf Wine and Spirits. Maker’s Mark offers an unique option to blend our own whiskey by picking the ‘staves’ and the amount. Our whiskey-enthusiastic team creates a blend to be only sold here. The process of choosing staves is extremely fun and unique, currently only to be found with Maker’s Mark. (Tip: if you enjoyed a bottle of our ‘private selection’, that means that you have similar tasting palate to us and would most likely enjoy all of our private selections!)

SUSTAINABILITY

Maker’s Mark has a zero-landfill initiative that will repurpose or recycle all waste at the distillery, including pulverizing used Maker’s Mark® bottles into sand for hiking trails across their property, Star Hill Farm. They also created the world’s largest research repository for white oak trees, the source of all bourbon barrels. This provides a living laboratory for scientists to study the sustainability of the tree species for future generations.

Maker’s Mark is proud to be the largest distillery in the world – and the first in Bourbon Country® – to join the B Corp™ global community.

Earning this certification is a natural fit for the values we’ve always upheld, starting with our founders, Bill and Margie Samuels, who worked and lived by a simple philosophy: “Make Your Mark. Leave No Trace.” To us this means bold, proactive, regenerative actions (Make Your Mark) coupled with comprehensive efforts to leave nothing harmful behind (Leave No Trace) – all to ensure that future generations inherit a world that’s even better than the one we did. We’ve dedicated ourselves to using business as a force for good, an approach we have in common with other B Corp companies. This is a major milestone that recognizes our commitment to fulfilling the 100-year vision that our founders set in place from the very beginning.

Zero Landfills: Our zero-landfill initiative will repurpose or recycle all waste at the distillery, including pulverizing used Maker’s Mark® bottles into sand for hiking trails across our property, Star Hill Farm.

White Oak Trees: We created the world’s largest research repository for white oak trees, the source of all bourbon barrels. This provides a living laboratory for scientists to study the sustainability of the tree species for future generations.

Providing Support: Giving back to the community in meaningful ways is key for us, including support for charitable causes in higher education, arts and the hospitality industry.
