Description
Alexander Murray Glen Keith 21 Year Old 1995
The site of experimental distillation trial and error for Chivas, Glen Keith was converted in 1960 on the site of an old corn mill in the Speyside town of Keith. Well-established Strathisla is very nearby, also part of the Chivas team of distilleries.
Originally kitted out with three stills, the Glen Keith ran a triple distillation process in its early years, making it stick out as a bit of an oddity in the region, with two more being added in 1970 to adopt the more conventional double distillation process.
A wide range of new-make spirit has been produced here over the years, and vintages can be scattered in profile and flavor. Today the distillery maintains a light profile with pronounced fruitiness, not too dissimilar to the likes of Bladnoch Distillery way down south.
Fresh, cheerful and most amenable to the influence of oak, this malt will always excites. Rarely monotonous despite its simplicity.
