Infused with mountain herbs and the rich Moscato wines of southern Italy, Carpano Antica Sweet Red Vermouth is lovingly made from an original 1786 recipe that was created in Turin, Italy.
Unchanged for more than 300 years, legend has it that this exquisite red vermouth proved so popular, its creator Antonio Benedetto Carpano, had to open his shop 24 hours a day to fulfill increasing demand. The legend goes on to tell us that the recipe’s secret was preserved by being passed on in separate parts to three different people, each of whom were unaware of the others!
Antica vermouth is lavish and elaborate, a rare speciality that is produced in very small quantities and served in fine blown-glass bottles each individually numbered, its label a reproduction of the original from 1786.
With its unmistakable and yet distinguished herbal and vanilla aroma Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth is luxuriant and abundant. The elegance of the vanilla flavor laced and intertwined around copious flavors, star anise, orange citrus and rich, plump dried fruit. Subtle whispers of herbs and spices meander through as it tenderly wraps around the tongue, softly caressing the palate and throat.
Drink chilled as an aperitif or after dinner, or mix into a delicious combination. Being so rich, Antica Sweet Vermouth is a perfect base for cocktails, like the classic American, Manhattan or Bronx.
