Description
Domaine de la Chanteleuserie Irene Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil 2017
Domaine de la Chanteleuserie stands on a due-south-facing plateau with a limestone subsoil. Thierry and Christine Boucard cultivate 19 hectares of Cabernet Franc in the Bourgueil appellation, two-thirds of which on chalky-clay soil, or tuffeau, and one-third on sandy clay. In 1985 the estate expanded to include a further 3 hectares of Cabernet Franc on sand and gravel in the Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil appellation.
Since 2000, Thierry Boucard has been cultivating his vines sustainably, tilling the soil and limiting the use of synthetic chemicals in favour of organic products. Half of the grapes are vinified in wooden casks (with punching down by foot during fermentation) and the other half in stainless steel tanks, for a period of 12 to 28 days depending on the cuvée.
