Description
Lochlea First Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky
At Lochlea, a Scottish farm outside Kilmarnock, a new micro Scotch distillery opened a few years ago, with a capacity of just 200,000 litres a year. The first official release has finally been bottled, overseen by former Laphroaig Distillery Manager John Campbell, and the result of pot still distillation of only barley grown directly in the fields of Lochlea Farm.
The autonomy of the raw material allows Lochlea to be in control of every stage of production and ensures traceability and sustainability; production waste is used to feed Lochlea Farm’s livestock, and even the water comes from an aquifer several metres below the buildings.
Lochlea First Release matured 3 years in ex-bourbon first fill casks and Pedro Ximenez barrels. Bottled at 46% and in a limited edition of 7,385 bottles.
